CHURCH IN PORTOVENERE

The church rises on a promontory in the most western part of the village, above a sour cliff dominating the sea. Its form reminds to a big stony ship and is the result of several phases of construction. A small loggia leaning out to the sea is what is left of the Romanesque period; the most recent part belongs to the gothic one. The external part is in a typically Ligurian gothic style: the ornaments are made with white and black marmoreal fillets. The tower situated on the left presbiterial chapel, dominates the monastery.

CHURCH IN PIETRASANTA

The “Pieve” of St. John and St. Felicita is the most ancient monument in the whole Versilia, being its existence documented since from 1855. The style is similar to the Byzantine one. The rose was built in around 1410; the tower bell dates back to 1583 and is affected in its style setting by the Renaissance influence. The interior, with three aisles, ha columns with half-gothic capitals.
